The Doctors Bruce and Lee Foundation Library presents African American Genealogy: Writing Family History with Dr. Walter B. Curry, Jr. on Tuesday, January 24 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Dr. Curry, a native of Orangeburg, SC, will teach attendees how to write a narrative history about their family incorporating the African American experience and historical context. He created a self-publishing company in 2018 called Renaissance Publications that publishes books that focus on African American history through ancestry. Dr. Curry has also published two award winning books that consist of stories that cover the lineage of his own ancestry from slavery, The Civil War, The Reconstruction Era, and family life in Aiken, Barnwell, Orangeburg, and Richland Counties, in South Carolina.
Participation is free, but space is limited and registration is required for this adult (18+) program. For information or to register, call (843) 413-7074. The Doctors Bruce and Lee Foundation Library is located at 509 S. Dargan Street in Florence.
