Unleash Your Voice: The Communal Pen Workshop

In Partnership with The Athenaeum Press of Coastal Carolina University

In the Field: Sharing Stories of Farming and Agriculture

Agriculture is the soul of rural South Carolina, built by the dedication of its farmers. Join Dr. Curry for this free, two-hour Communal Pen writing workshop that uses his ancestral books and original paintings as inspiration to help you document your own roots.

Writers and storytellers of all experience levels—ages five to ninety-five—are welcome! Participants will leave with a solid start on preserving their unique legacies. Writing supplies and refreshments are provided; registration is required.

Through our collaboration with The Athenaeum Press, participants gain insight into the world of professional storytelling and preservation. As a leader in documenting the marginalized and underrepresented histories of our region, the Press brings a deep commitment to authenticity and craft that elevates the workshop experience from a simple class to a cultural contribution.

"The Communal Pen is more than a workshop; it’s an act of reclaiming our shared history, one sentence at a time."
